A non-profit Family health centre is located in Kabulonga, providing affordable contraception and sexual and reproductive healthcare. The project was partially funded by the Swedish Embassy through Sida, and partially by the U.K Foreign Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO), formally known as DFID.
We installed 20KV Inverter System with 15.8KwP (solar panels) and 42.6KwH Lithium Battery Storage. Reduction of Genset usage, Marie Stopes Zambia have managed to drop the running hours for the genset after the installation & commissioning from 200 to 12 hours per month resulting in a 30% reduction on their utility bill.
Switch AC/DC was competitively selected to deliver a solar solution for the Marie Stopes Zambia (MSZ) head office in Kabulonga Lusaka. The office is in an old building that required 63 man hours to install and commission the project including hours of re-wiring electrical work for the solution to be viable, and Switch AC/DC included this in the solution at no additional cost to MSZ. It was important to MSZ that the solution developed was easily removable, so that the assets remained MSZ property, which we could easily relocate if required. Switch AC/DC developed an LSF structure and modular solar system, allowing MSZ to scale up or relocate the existing solution quickly and cheaply.
Prior to the solar installation, the office was running up to 200 hours a month on a diesel generator. As a donor-funded NGO, this was having a material impact on our ability to deliver our services, as more and more income was used to run the diesel generators for the office. Since installing the solution, we are now averaging a mere 12 hours a month of generator operation! Based on existing fuel prices, we will have recouped the initial investment within 10 months.
The Switch AC/DC system runs first off direct solar power, then switches to battery power if there is overcast weather. If batteries are low and there is still no direct solar power the system switches to ZESCO power. Should that not be available, the system eventually switches to generator power. All of this is handled automatically, which gives us security for our refrigerated drugs and medical consumables, while significantly reducing our regular operation costs.
Our operations have been transformed by Switch AC/DC solution and we now feel we are also doing our part for the environment, since we are no longer relying on massive fossil fuel, CO2 generating diesel power any more. This solution was partly funded by Sida and FCDO who both have a strong commitment to sustainable environmental solutions, and without whom we wouldn't have been able to go green.

We installed a 10 Kva Inverter system + 3 x 5KW Lithium Ion Batteries + 24 x 330W Jinco Solar Modules at a private house. This equipment enable the customer to run their household completely offgrid.
For Micheal Bentley, we upgraded from Lead acid batteries to 2 x 3.55 KW Lithium Ion batteries.
For Kobra Escort Security, we instaleld a 5 Kva inverter + 4 x 220AH Gel Batteries + 6 x 330W Suntech Solar Modules. This installtion allowed KES to run a home office.
For Ian Ratnam we replaced his solar batteries with 8 x 220AH gel batteries. The old lead acids had lasted for 4 years.
